Description:
• The selected individual will have the responsibility to complete a strategic analysis of the organization’s supply chain function, identifying and implementing a long range strategy which will drive efficiencies and cost reductions across the business.
Other Position Responsibilities:
• Manages and oversee the organization’s supply chain including purchasing processes, inventory control methods, logistics and transportation systems, demand models, distribution and supplier delivery programs, and accounts payable models.
• Working with the organization’s operations and functional groups, further develop the “shared services” supply chain organization that leverages the organization’s total buy, while establishing common processes, performance metrics, standards and a supplier quality program.
• Refine the organization’s supply chain infrastructure incorporating policies, procedures and processes, ensuring they are maintained and adhered to in accordance with company quality systems, policies and guidelines.
• Develop procurement, logistics and inventory management strategies, which meet quality requirements and optimize cost savings, delivery and services, and guarantee supply assurance.
• Manage the organization’s spend in critical areas such as: logistics and transportation, equipment, fleet, professional services, field operations. Work with cross functional teams, taking a lead role in negotiating key supply contracts.
• Drive operational excellence and best practices across the organization’s supply chain network reducing cost by 7-10% per year.
• Provide strategic leadership, subject matter expertise, and support for the supply chain design and improvement initiatives. Includes the business unit’s adoption of new technology.
• Ensure a system is in place that identifies and mitigates all types of supply chain risks.
• Ensure there is a robust process in place to ensure the organization’s Supplier Business Practices policy is enforced.
• Monitor core supply chain performance, including delivery against product and service level agreements and cost objectives.
Position / Candidate Requirements:
Education:
• A Bachelor’s degree is required. A MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
Work Experience:
• The successful candidate will need to have at least 15 years of well-rounded supply chain experience in progressively senior positions, a strategic business orientation, and a team-based management style.
• This experience will have been gained in a diverse, national service organization of at least $500 million in spend, and within an organization noted for employing leading edge Supply Chain practices.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
The candidate should also possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities:
• Strong business analysis, supply chain and logistics optimization skills.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience in the development, negotiation and implementation of contracts and deployment of supply chain/logistics processes and best practices for an organization of a similar size and scope.
• Demonstrated experience in influencing, developing and motivating people from diverse backgrounds; able to lead cross-functional business teams.
• Demonstrated people leadership skills; developing direct reports and others.
• Knowledge of world class SCM tools and experience implementing them.
• Working knowledge of quality systems, lean and continuous improvement processes, state of the art supply chain practices, and project management systems.
• Working knowledge of ERP, logistics/transportation and related technology/systems.
• Thorough knowledge and application of budgeting, financial analysis and cost control practices.
• Ability to travel.
