Description:
• Plans, coordinates, directs, and/or performs engineering assignments involving specifications for, and design changes or alterations to, aircraft, engines, systems, components, and field or shop equipment.
• Investigates and analyzes project requirements and operating problems and develops recommended solutions to meet company governmental safety and performance standards including Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
• Evaluates, selects, applies, and/or adapts engineering modifications.
• Designs or recommends new or modified parts and components.
• Analyzes reparability of parts and components.
• Evaluates operating data on parts, components, and systems to establish causes and to determine remedies for wear, malfunctions, or premature removals.
• Analyzes and evaluates aircraft and associated equipment proposals.
• Prepares technical data, procedures, reports, drawings, manuals, and other required publications.
Specific Job Description:
• Single point of contact for airborne and ground based parts equipment procurement, disbursement and tracking in supporting the airworthiness needs of the JSF CATB (Cooperative Avionics Test Bed), B-737 Flight Test Program.
• Serves as the primary action official for implementation of supply chain management including order placement, scheduling requirements, systems management and warehousing, to locating and issuing at aircraft level.
• Utilize commercial jet illustrated parts manuals along with engineering documents related to project to accomplish assignments.
• Responsible for providing guidance and recommendations for the transfer of equipment and materials to align resources for the JSF CATB.
• Responsible for capturing logistics requirements tied to coordination for deployment flights throughout the continental United States.
• Daily formulates and interprets strategic plans, requirements, standards of operations and reporting procedures necessary to successfully implement sustainment and maintenance programs support, transportation and supply processes associated with delivering material aid to the flight operations team.
• Member of the flight operations maintenance team based at LMCO Fort Worth plant.
• The position requires deployment to remote test sites, government test sites and other locations several times / year for several weeks at a time.
• Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Required Skills:
• Those necessary to interact with internal or external customers and suppliers for the purpose of material procurement and logistics support for the LM Flight Test Organization.
• Ability to collect, analyze and prepare logistical data for management team oversight.
• Strong organizational skills and knowledge of commercial aircraft maintenance production control and material management operations.
• Aptitude to secure and move aircraft parts and equipment in AOG situations for grounded commercial aircraft.
• Good coordination skills with internal or external constituents for timely movement of materials.
• Professional communication skills and techniques appropriate for all levels of management and work force.
• Self starter with the ability and desire to work independently.
• Computer applications skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and some form of Material Management SW.
Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of Commercial Jet Aircraft Parts Procurement and Logistics support for large aircraft.
• FAA licensed A&P; airframe and power plant mechanic rating.
Typical Minimums:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience.
• 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
