Description:
• The Buyer develops and implements global external supplier and commodity strategies, as designated.
• You will drive long-term improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery, with engagement and support of key stakeholders that enhance competitive and commercial performance of Rolls Royce, its customers and its suppliers.
• You will operate within the Supply Chain Management Team / Purchasing Team across the full product / service life cycle ensuring supplier commercial issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
• You will manage work queue, including the sourcing of parts / services, raising and management of all purchase documents within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or other Purchasing systems.
Supplier Relationships:
• Where designated responsible for leading and co-coordinating supplier relationships and strategy(s) within the designated external buy supply chain.
• Informed of who performs a similar role within the commodities / category(s) to which they are assigned.
• Where designated, will lead specific supplier relationships fulfilling the accountabilities of the Supplier Relationship Leader (see accountability statement).
Cost Management:
• Responsible for the creation and/ or deployment of Cost Models (e.g. User-Friendly Cost Standards) for designated Commodities / Services / Products and the development and delivery of the agreed financial commitments.
• If supplier cost performance deviates from agreed targets (including New Product Introduction), will consult with Global Commodity Leader / Regional Purchase Manager or equivalent and agree upon counter-measure(s).
• Use the ERP systems or other Purchasing Systems and e-commerce in an optimal way to maximize internal transactional efficiency, minimizing total costs.
• Contribute to improvement and share best practice across Suppy Chain Team Management / Purchasing Teams.
Strategic Sourcing:
• Consulted and, where designated, responsible for the development and execution of assigned commodity strategy(s).
• Responsible for the execution of the sourcing process and associated tasks.
• Informed and, where designated, responsible for developing the relevant category and parent and/or vendor level supplier strategies and of their execution.
• Makes recommendations to the Global Commodity Leader on sourcing decisions.
Delivery:
• Informed of, or where designated, responsible for supplier delivery performance in assigned commodities / services / products.
• Responsible for counter measures where a commercial decision(s) is required for resolution of part specific delivery issues (including New Product Introduction).
• Will consult with Global Commodity Leader / Regional Purchase Manager or equivalent and agree upon counter- measure(s) for systemic failures.
Quality:
• Informed of, or where designated, responsible for supplier quality performance for the assigned commodities / services / products.
• Responsible for counter measures where a commercial decision(s) is required for resolution of part specific quality issues (including New Product Introduction).
• Will consult with Global Commodity Leader / Regional Purchase Manager or equivalent and agree upon counter-measure(s) for systemic failures.
Processes and Procedures:
• Accountable and responsible for ensuring their adherence to the company's processes and procedures.
• Accountable and responsible for all ERP processes and SAP data in order to maintain and improve ERP compliance.
• Adherence to ERP processes, principles and accountabilities while operating within the supplier management team.
• Responsible for ensuring that all purchase documents are issued and maintained as appropriate including the required customer, governmental and airworthiness regulations.
Code of Ethics:
• Responsible for ensuring their own compliance to the company's code of ethics.
Qualifications and Experience:
Basic:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering required.
• In lieu of a degree, 5+ years experience in supply chain or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
• Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working.
• Has a proven track record in delivering results.
• Understands manufacturing or service processes and the cost drivers.
• Understands the Total Cost of Acquisition impact.
• Understands and operates Supplier Relationship Management.
