Superintendent - Project Procurement (KEMC)

Description:

• The Project Contracts & Procurement Superintendent is accountable for the deployment of defined elements of the RTP Capital Procurement model, within a major capital project or portfolio of projects and for supporting the discharge of a defined contract packages within a specified capital project.
• The role delivers strong commercially focussed outcomes to the project and ensures that the owners' perspective on procurement requirements is well represented with engineers, consultants, and EPCM contractors.


The successful candidate will be able to:

• Perform the EPCM project procurement and contract management activities within the Capital Procurement Professional's area of competency to contribute to the achievement of project completion safely, on time and within budget.
• Manage the multiple interfaces with engineers, suppliers, owners teams, government agencies etc.
• Ensure that Owners' team objectives and priorities are adequately addressed by the EPCM in their P work, or the RTP procurement team as directed by the Capital Procurement Project Manager.
• Assist in developing and implementing robust and practical project procurement and contracts plan.
• Develop commercially executable contracts and agreements that consider both the project construction schedules and ongoing operations requirements.
• Discharge elements of the defined spend management plans for the project as directed by the Capital Project Procurement - Capital Manager.
• Identify opportunities for appropriate use of Group leverage.
• Ensure that operability requirements are appropriately addressed from a P perspective so far as this falls within the Capital Procurement Professional's area of competency.


Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent education/experience in business, engineering, or related discipline.
• MBA Preferred.
• 7 to 10 years experience of firectly related work experience.
• Knowledge and experience with major capital projects and working with engineering project teams.
• A professional approach to promotion of this RTP service within major capital project teams and BU project teams.
• Display the ability to work (and assist others) to tight deadlines and in high pressure environments.
• Extensive commercial and contracts experience gained in a major projects environment and demonstrated ability to meet project quality, timeline and budget requirements.
• A good understanding of, and ability to apply, sound Commercial and Contracts Law requirements and methodologies applicable to the capital project procurement.
• Ability to translate scopes of work, specifications, drawings into a commercially executable document.
• The ability to work effectively and productively in a team environment as well as with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity and ability to utilise Electronic Commerce tools in order to add value to the procurement process.
• Awareness of market development initiatives (eg: low cost country sourcing) and ability to support end users when sourcing from alternative supply sources.
