Description:
• The Materials Manager will work in the Freehold, NJ facility.
• This position does not offer relocation.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
• As a member of the leadership team, helps to set and review company strategic objectives and targets.
• Owns the materials management processes.
• Develop and implement fundamental Materials Management & Logistics processes & strategies.
• Drive inventory and materials cost reductions through Materials Management excellence.
• Interface with corporate and site organizations to execute Materials Management & logistics strategies.
• Ensure the purchase, receipt and storage of quality raw materials, in the required quantities, on a timely basis in order to support manufacturing's requirements.
• Oversee the scheduling of final production lines and customer service.
• Ensure that appropriate leadership, resources and skills are in place to facilitate completion of the Supplier Engagement projects.
• Drive improvements to the Materials processes using lean methodology.
• Provide the Materials and Customer Service team with effective leadership, guidance, coaching, communication, learning and development.
• Align goals of team consistent with Hoshin Plan.
• Monitor and evaluate goals; driving for standardized effective solutions to existing problems.
• Create a work environment conducive to employee moral and motivation to accomplish performance objectives through effective change management.
• Engage in effective communication processes with employees.
• Ensure PDCA methodology is utilized.
• Drive knowledge sharing on the production floor at all levels.
• Understand the HSE hazards, risks and controls of the operations under their control.
• Monitor and coach/teach awareness and compliance to HSE controls.
• Actively participate in the HSE behavior programs for the organization.
Material Replenishment:
• Develops/implements H.O.S. Manufacturing systems and processes to continually improve competitiveness.
• Establishes a materials management/supply chain strategy to optimize value added processes.
• Formulates and installs standard practices.
Standard Work:
• Audit the engineers standardized work to ensure adherence to standard processes and procedures.
• Follow the established leadership standardized work.
Visual Management:
• Support and maintain 5S system.
• Review metrics daily to drive a sense of urgency on the floor.
• Respond as required to abnormalities.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Participate in daily communication meeting.
Rapid Problem Solving:
• Drive fast response to root cause analysis.
• Support the escalation process and drive quality into the process.
Continuous Improvement:
• Drives a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline required.
• APICS or CPM Certification is required.
• 5-10 years purchasing management experience with extensive knowledge of best practices in supply chain.
• Ability to work on an on-call basis if needed.
