Description:

• This role would be located in Houston or Austin, Texas or Phoenix, Arizona.
• This position will report to the Strategic Sourcing Manager of Direct Commodities.
• This position will focus on managing the Computing supply chain globally across all internal sites and computing suppliers.
• This includes managing the supply chain for servers, workstations, switches, hand-held computing and other computing related devices.
• The ideal candidate will have:
– A background of managing multiple technical commodities globally including experience managing computing technology commodities.
– Experience managing server/workstation/switching suppliers.
– A successful track record of managing commodities across the full product life-cycle from NPI through maturity and end of life.
– Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams across design/marketing/operations/finance/others.
– Managed suppliers in a variety of markets including constrained supply markets.
– Demonstrated market expertise including market analysis to drive commodity strategies.
– A successful track record of managing suppliers at all levels of management to achieve objectives.
– Successfully managed and negotiated pricing for a variety of products supporting multiple internal sites and product lines for computing or other commodities utilizing cost models and market analysis and expertise.

• The candidate should ideally also have demonstrated success driving advanced supply solutions into the supply base including kan-ban, pull systems, the use of EDI, shared-scheduling and other tools/processes.
• The ideal candidate will also have experience managing product migrations from one generation to another including price optimizing the new generations and rationalizing the tradeoffs between cost, technology and options.
• This role will:
– Support development and implementation of the sourcing strategies to achieve lowest total costs.
– Improve working capital.
– Drive effective asset management.
– Achieve quality improvement.
– Ensure on-time delivery.
– Improve cycle time.
– Ensure early supplier involvement in product development.


Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with Procurement, Supplier Quality, NPI Sourcing and Project sourcing to support commodity goals;
• Play active role in resolving critical quality and delivery issues with suppliers. (Comprehensive ownership of supplier performance.)
• Manage direct engagement on a daily basis with suppliers and internal functional teams globally to drive implementation of the supply strategy and ensure success of the supply chain.
• Support development and implementation of plans to meet annual goals which includes supplier strategy, productivity/cost-reduction, lead-time reductions, consignment/kan-ban implementation, working capital improvement, supplier quality and delivery performance.
• Through the analysis of current spend and an understanding of current processes and practices this individual will be responsible for development and deployment of the direct material sourcing strategy for their commodity.
• This strategy supports the goals of the business units including supplier consolidation, process standardization, cost reduction, transaction cost removal and process digitization to meet the annual operating plan.
• Demonstrate capability as a supply chain, supplier and market expert recognized across business units and functions.
• Utilize economic, competitive and supply base knowledge to achieve goals.
• Understand the global supply base and markets.
• Possess the knowledge of best-in-region and global suppliers for each commodity.
• Support integration of newly acquired sites into the global strategy.
• Drive synergy opportunities with the sites for productivity, working capital and efficiencies.
• Deploy processes that are consistent with the identified strategy by teaming with the other Global Sourcing personnel.
• Function as a conduit/coordinator between the suppliers and internal functions.
• Support the process to identify and select approved suppliers capable of providing parts and materials that meet established requirements.
• Support the negotiation and implementation of agreements with strategic suppliers in accordance with HPS goals, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) guidelines and other objectives and policies.
• Support site sourcing strategies across various sites for synergy opportunities and ensure they are aligned with HPS Global Commodity Strategies.
• Engage with technology/ marketing to understand and develop plans to support business goals.
• Also, coordinate with technology to allocate technology resources for productivity and dual sourcing projects.

• Execute robust and sound sourcing strategies.
• Support establishment and management of a high performance supply base.
• Expand use of ER suppliers.
• Meet or exceed annual and year over year productivity/savings goals.
• Meet or exceed HPS On-Time-To-Requirements, payables, lead-time and quality goals.
• Alignment with Global Commodities strategies.
• Alignment with technology, marketing, ACS and other sourcing sub functions.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or operations.
• 5 or more years of global experience in Strategic Sourcing and Procurement.


Additional Qualifications:

• Master's degree preferred.
• Previous experience in global high-mix manufacturing business is highly preferred.
• CIPS, APICs and/or CPM or equivalent certification desired.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Leadership experience in Supply Management/Sourcing/Procurement.
• Experience in leading cross-functional and sourcing teams with an emphasis on emerging regions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage / lead multiple projects and changing priorities.
• Ability to work with, manage and influence all levels of Leadership.
• Ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Successful use of decision-making and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
