Description:
• This position provides procurement contract management and category management support for global strategic initiatives.
• This position exercises independent judgment and directs activities concerned with a particular category of contracts, including but not limited to analyzing spend, rationalizing supply base, effectively managing contracts in contract database and SAP system, and identifying and pursuing savings opportunities.
• This position establishes and maintains effective contracting processes consistent with company policies and guidelines.
• Additionally, this position is responsible for negotiating contracts that are commercially sound and provide optimal protection of company assets.
Key job responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
• Assists Category Manager with planning, direction and/or supervision of purchasing activities of designated Category.
• Becomes "Sourcing Expert" in Plant Materials (MRO)sub-category sphere by analyzing spend and keeping abreast of market conditions, trends, best practices, and supply chain leaders in the field.
• Develops and deploys the procurement strategy for Plant Materials (MRO) across sites.
• Responsible for executing local, regional, national and global contracts, contract amendments, renewals and extensions, as well as managing effective independent judgment of the contracts compliance with all applicable company policies, practices and controls.
• Responsible for leading the bid process including performing spend analysis, financial due diligence, analysis of corporate compatibility, preparing and issuing bid proposals/packages, acting as the single point of contact for bid communications, leading supplier evaluations, exercising independent judgment in the evaluation of commercial bid terms compliance to requirements and scoring process, and preparation of final award recommendation and resulting contract.
• Develops and implements supplier management programs and scorecards to gauge performance and the health of the business relationship, including periodic reviews of supplier performance and optimization of the supplier relationship to maximize value.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Category Manager.
• Manages between 50 - 100 contracts with a value of $50MM-$100MM.
Qualifications:
• This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field with a minimum of 5+ years Procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Specific knowledge and management of Plant Materials contract language, an understanding of the legal framework as it relates to contracts and a general understanding of compliance and risk from a business perspective is preferred.
• Experience writing and maintaining contracts, implementing contract development processes and pursuing cost savings initiatives a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities, as well as negotiation skills are required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications and willingness and capability to learn other job-specific computer programs (i.e. LMS).
• Working knowledge of Procurement through Payables elements of SAP 4.7 is a plus.
• Successful candidate must be customer-focused and results-driven, proficient in problem-solving and analyzing issues, and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the organization.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effective team skills, excellent project management, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is a plus.
