Description:

• Reporting to the Executive Director Supply Chain Operations, the incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the acquisition, movement, storage and distribution of all medical center supplies, services, and equipment.
• Develops and maintains efficient inventory management systems and organizes and maintains a system of Product Evaluation and Standardization within the Medical Center.
• Represents Materials Management on various hospital?wide or system?wide committees, as required.


Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of procurement, inventory, distribution, basic accounting and finance theories and applications, and ability to perform complex budgeting functions at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration, hospital administration or other closely related field.
• Approximately five to seven years of progressively more responsible clinically?related work experience necessary in order to gain full knowledge of the clinical users operational requirements for the selection, procurement, inventory, and distribution of clinical supplies.
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate and resolve problems with supervisory personnel from user departments, and effectively communicate with vendors when ordering large supply and equipment purchases.
• Analytical and quantitative skills necessary in order to recommend operating procedures, propose budgets, develop departmental goals and objectives, evaluate bids and products, monitor inventory control and the like.


Physical Requirements:

• Work requires ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Work requires ability to carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Work requires ability to stand up to 1 hour at a time.
• Work requires ability to climb (ascend and /or descend) ladders, scaffolding and/or ramps on a biweekly basis.
• Work requires ability to stoop and bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, and communicate with other people, as well as, manual dexterity and color vision.
• Work requires ability to push and/or pull laundry or supply carts, gurneys or wheelchairs on an occasional basis.
