• The role is to implement sourcing strategies in alignment with Software category strategies.
• As well as the ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers to deliver best value.
• The role requires an understanding of business objectives and the ability to engage internal customers, functional specialists and other stakeholders whose support is critical for successful sourcing initiatives.
Job Dimensions:
• Understand business requirements and develop relationships with IT stakeholders to gain support in software related sourcing initiatives.
• Develop strong supplier relationships to achieve superior supplier performance, negotiating commercial terms to deliver best value solutions, and the measurement/reporting of the value delivered.
• The successful candidate will work in a small specialist procurement team supported by the wider global Indirect Procurement community.
• This role offers the opportunity and scope to initiate, shape and drive change within an important area of the Indirect Procurement spend portfolio across the full range of BP’s businesses.
• The candidate will engage with a large portfolio of both global and regional suppliers. He/She will also engage key stakeholders based predominantly in the UK and US.
Key Accountabilities:
• Responsible for the implementation of the IP vision and strategy consistent with IT Software category strategies.
• The development and execution of sourcing plans consistent with set strategies; Management of IT strategic software suppliers/vendors.
• Communicates regularly with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of objectives and to build a clear understanding of business requirements for third party goods and services.
• Leads the on-boarding of key stakeholders who are required to support Procurement approaches to the external market, coaching as necessary.
• Supports category managers, contributing to the development of category strategies, plans and priorities, and identifying opportunities to leverage value or mitigate risk from changes in markets (eg technology developments, supplier consolidation).
• Implements sourcing initiatives that ensure delivery of business plans and category strategies.
• Manages sourcing activities, prioritizing and rebalancing against business objectives.
• Leads the full sourcing process which includes development of scope, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, risk mitigation and contract execution, ensuring the appropriate business involvement at all stages of the process.
• Ensures application of an end-to-end (TCO) view in all sourcing decisions.
• Shapes contractual terms and conditions, involving Legal when required, employing best practice in contracting methods to manage risk and maximise value.
• Identifies opportunities and realises value through effective use of strategic cost management tools (eg “should cost” analysis, eAuctions).
• Undertakes due diligence in mitigating all external supply risk from supplier selection through to contract execution.
• Supports the implementation of new contracts and change of supplier, ensuring efficient management of change and in particular effective handover to and understanding of contract terms by front line supervisors.
• Actively participates in supplier performance management, including ongoing contract management and control, collation of performance data, and planning and execution of supplier meetings.
• Provide on-going contract cost management and risk assessment.
• Supports and enables a high performing team, coaching less experienced Procurement staff.
• Participate in company networks, sharing information, best practices and lessons learned.
• Interface where relevant with the Indirect Procurement Operations Center.
• Optimize utilization of IP Procurement Operations Center to deliver sourcing activities.
• Work closely with POC Service Delivery Leads and Service Delivery Coordinators to assure POC sourcing delivery to the business stakeholders.
Essential Criteria & Qualifications:
• Degree/Post Graduate level education.
• Experience of procuring software within a blue-chip environment.
• Strong experience of procuring IT software-based contracts and understanding the supply market and risk.
• Experience of working with and influencing both internal and external stakeholders.
• Track record of strong supplier performance measurement and management.
• Experience of procuring within diverse project-based environments.
• Knowledge and experience of contract law and contract management.
• Experience of working with suppliers to deliver industry recognized best practice.
• Experience of the relevant tools and processes.
• Experience of working cross culturally.
