Description:

• The Inventory Team Lead is responsible for the reconciliation of crude, intermediate or refined products inventory for Refining & Marketing business units.
• This includes a monthly reconciliation for exchanges, 3rd party terminals, pipelines, in transit bulk locations and all related fees.
• The Inventory Team Lead works closely with Marketing Supply Negotiators, Balance Analysts, Product Schedulers, Settlement Analysts and Transaction Control staff.
• This role will be responsible for establishing an Inventory team within the Business Service Center (BSC) by facilitating the movement of activities from other regional BP offices.
• The individual occupying this position will be responsible for leading a team of 6-8 Analysts – supporting their daily activities including: reconciliation approvals, payment approvals, root cause analysis and resolution, identification of workflow process gaps and process improvement opportunities.
• This Inventory Team Lead’s duties responsibilities include mentoring, coaching, assisting with career development and performance appraisals.


Key Accountabilities:

• Establish an Inventory team within the Americas BSC to support the incoming work activities from the sending West Coast R&M businesses.
• Approve Inventory reconciliations for exchange, truck and bulk activities for products at BP and 3rd party terminals.
• Payment review and approval for financial settlements, invoice and other invoiced fees.
• Monitor control reports to ensure accurate financial data.
• Work to resolve root cause issues and internal control gaps that have been identified, investigated and/or analyzed.
• Manage and produce monthly metrics reporting.
• Oversee the facilitation and maintenance of internal and external business relationships.
• Manage new business implementation within the team.


Essential Criteria & Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related area.
• 5 years of relevant Accounting/Finance related experience.
• Experience with month-end close activities.
• Prior leadership and coaching skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% for the role.


Desirable Criteria & Qualifications:

• 2 years leadership/management experience.
• Proficiency with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial applications.
• Supply Chain experience; knowledge of product movement through the supply chain; exposure to the Product Supply Business.
• Familiarity with payables and receivables.
• Bias for action underpinned by a strong work ethic; a proven track record of adding value.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a robust understanding of control processes; able to exercise sound technical judgment in making business decisions.
• Strong skills in problem solving and negotiation.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication/interpersonal skills.
