Description:

• The load planning position provides the tactical execution of the transportation team through load planning, scheduling, and tendering to meet internal and external customer needs.
• They interface with a large number of critical relationships ' internally and externally.
• The position needs a professional, self - managed individual.
• One who is aligned to the goals and expectations of Supply Chain as they conduct their daily activities.


Primary Responsibilities:

Operational:

• Plan and execute daily operations to optimize utilization of company assets to achieve target financial and operational goals while complying to all company and DOT rules and regulations.
• Collaborate with and across fleet terminals, DC, facilities, and warehouse operations, customer service, deployment, and Nestle Divisions/Companies to ensure best practices and operational synergies are being achieved.
• Under limited Supervision, this person plans, schedules, coordinates and reviews the efficient distribution of products.
• Ultimately to satisfy customers needs, but includes facilities and supply chain balancing of needs as well.
• Includes reverse logistics execution.
• Utilizes the TMS and published route guides while balancing service and costs.
• Maintains the daily communications to all effected parties (Nestle, Vendors, Customers, etc).
• Represents a critical 'face' to these same groups and will maintain a proper professional approach in all interactions (face to face; phone, e-mail, meetings, etc.).
• Works to optimize warehouse and deployment schedules, carrier equipment, mode, lane costs, and customer on time delivery.
• Responsible for budgets and service for assigned lanes and facilities.
• Align with Managements budget and service goals.
• Demonstrate process improvement with their manager.
• Supports company blueprint, initiatives, and processes.


Administration:

• Analyze exception to a perfect delivery and customer pick up as required.
• Builds strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
• This includes the Customer, Carrier, Supply Chain and Shared Services.
• Daily communications on exceptions, changes to the facility\transport environment, problem resolution and of equipment\service needs.
• Work with, and provide input to resolving capacity and service needs.
• Also on opportunities to make changes to route guides, commitments and plans.
• Process improvement and review of spend choices is done a regular basis and discussed with the appropriate managers.
• Staying current on the transportation management systems abilities and shortcomings.
• This includes staying current on the plans from the department (alignment to management).
• Other duties as assign: includes meetings, projects, travel, training and other necessary tasks to support adding the most value to Nestle.


Supervision Received:

• Direct supervision from Transportation Supervisor and Load Control Center Manager.
• Indirect (dotted-line) direction from Transportation, Administration, Supply chain and shared services when aligned with agreed upon goals.


Supervision Given:

• The Load Planners have to be able to influence the above people in their day-to-day activities and projects.
• Influencing, and holding Carriers \ Facility \ Customer Service accountable for agreements is very important.
• It is expected they do not need to run to the manager for every resolution to conflict.


Financial/Strategic Impact:

• No direct responsibility, due to the dynamic needs of our company.
• However they are responsible for managing the agreed to plans and budgets as agreed to with their managers, for their facilities and lanes.
• As an individual and a team member, support Cost Savings.
• Initiatives, process improvement and Route Guide Compliance.
• This position has to weigh service levels and costs.


Requirements & Minimum Education Level:

• High School Diploma, with a college education preferred.
• Requires a professional approach to internal and external customers and\or vendors.


Experience:

• Transportation and\or logistics experience preferred.
• Load planning experiences a plus.
• Experience in and tactical, and fast paced environment a plus.
• Experience in a Customer Service, high communications positions a plus.


Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, decision making skills and good judgment is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills a must.
• Must be able to manage the multi-tasking, priority shifting stress of an operational environment.
• Must be able to function in a team environment.
• Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook Programs.
