Description:
• Supervise a team of Buyers responsible for sourcing and procuring all goods required to support maintenance and operations. Measures and manages performance to ensure the effectiveness of the team, and resolves issues as needed.
• Supervise staff to meet procurement and sourcing performance objectives and deadlines on a daily basis.
• Implement GSC initiatives and objectives with team, track performance against those objectives and regularly provide feedback to employees, both verbally and in writing, in an effort to meet those objectives.
• Utilize procurement and sourcing tools and techniques with team to ensure customer needs are met at the lowest total cost.
• Research and recommend procurement and sourcing techniques, best practices and strategies.
• Participate in the development, communication, and training of corporate procurement and sourcing processes and strategies.
• Collaborate in or supervises the implementation of new or enhanced procurement and sourcing processes at assigned site.
• Develop external sources of supplier, commodity, and market information which provide profile, financial, and industry information on selected suppliers and industries.
• Identify external price and market indices used to measure and track internal procurement performance, supplier performance, and market trends.
• Assist site management with special analysis of inventory control, turnover, cost of goods sold, back order rates, etc.
• Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years experience in Supply Chain or related areas of Business, Accounting or Engineering; OR.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or the related fields of Business, Accounting, or Engineering and five (5) years experience in Supply Chain or related areas in Business, Accounting, or Engineering.
• Knowledge of cost/price methodologies including zero-based pricing and life-cycle costing.
• Knowledge of supply chain management strategies and concepts.
• Knowledge of material usage, inventory control techniques and planning systems.
• Knowledge of sourcing policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of the purchase order and accounts payable processes.
• Knowledge of public relations/customer service principles, practices and techniques.
• Proficiency in a variety of computer software, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Skill in researching and analyzing information related to vendors, contractors, equipment and supplies.
• Skill in analyzing information of considerable difficulty and drawing valid conclusions.
• Skill in negotiating and administering contracts.
• Skill in using computer databases to research, maintain, update records and files.
• Skill in handling and prioritizing multiple projects.
• Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work with general office equipment such as a personal computer and keyboard, facsimile machines and photocopier.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Procurement experience in the mining industry.
• Experience using SAP.
Criteria/Conditions:
• Work is performed primarily in an office setting, and occasionally in an outdoor or plant environment.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear and see.
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
