Description:

• Responsible for the purchases of materials and services on a site or regional basis and for development and deployment of the procurement strategy for locally or regionally procured commodities.
• Ensures accurate definition of requirements and good understanding of market requirements; develops contract criteria, leads supplier approval and selection process, and negotiates and prepares contracts; establishes and maintains an effective procurement system consistent with LyondellBasell control guidelines.
• Establishes and utilizes a site support network for timely acquisition of site managed materials and services while achieving maximum overall cost effectiveness.
• Acts as a contact for the Strategic/Project buyers located at North American headquarters in Houston as required.
• Position will be based at one of our Houston, Texas, manufacturing facilities - exact facility to be determined at time of hiring and subject to periodic change to rebalanced organizational workload or for developmental growth.
• Periodic travel to remotely supported sites outside of the Houston area is required.


Qualifications:

• BS or BA undergraduate degree preferred.


Experience:

• Typically requires 0 to 4 years of experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment in technical or business related positions is preferred.


Administrative Requirements:

• Moderate to high level of skill in communication, initiative, work-planning, and results orientation competencies.
• Good analytical skills.
• Demonstrated computer system knowledge including spreadsheet analysis software and SAP software applications.


Commercial Requirements:

• Good negotiating skills.
• Ability to effectively participate in cross functional commercial teams.
• CPM certification desired.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).
