• Provide global leadership and direction to the Indirect Purchasing organization in alignment with overall company strategies.
• This position will develop a global procurement strategy that supports the business needs with the timely sourcing of indirect materials and services.
• Keeps Senior Management well informed of area activities, significant problems and results of cost saving initiatives.

The Director of Indirect Purchasing will:
• Develop strong relationships with internal customers to engage them on a timely basis as appropriate to ensure purchases are consistent with company objectives and standards.
• Develop and implement global supply strategies that leverage company buying power and drive total cost of ownership savings.
• Drive continuous improvement in spend management processes and implemented tactics to drive compliance across the company.
• Strategically source and execute to acquire indirect materials and services; categories such as travel, technology, capital equipment, MRO, contract services, transportation/logistics, etc.
• Develop and execute proactive measures aligned with Talent Development to foster development of quality procurement professionals and a high performing work team with spend category responsibility.
• Utilize e-sourcing capabilities to automate tactical responsibilities, enable spend category strategy development and integrate processes and functions across the end-to-end supply chain to drive optimal financial results.
• Develop and execute supplier qualification and certification process to assure quality product/service delivery and mitigate supply disruption risk.
• Manage supplier relationships based on a consistent Supplier Relationship Management architecture and defined process.
• Lead the development and direction of category sourcing plans directly connected with key stakeholders (budget & P&L owners) needs derived from close connection and understanding of their business strategies.
• Continually develop strong relationships with internal business partners across the company and stay connected with their individual business strategies and needs.
• Develop, execute and manage supplier contracts and agreements.
• Execute the defined strategic sourcing process and drive utilization of tools and techniques aligned with the process framework and architecture.
Essential Function and Basic Duties:

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related major; MBA preferred.
• APICS and/or CPM certification, preferred.
Experienced Required:
• Ten years purchasing and/or supply chain experience, five years minimum at manager level.
• Experience with large complex companies, preferably in excess of $1 billion in revenue.
• Experience managing a variety of spend categories in excess of $100 million total spend accountability.
• Indirect purchasing and strategic sourcing experience, international purchasing preferred.
• Experience utilizing spend management technology to negotiate and realize savings.
• Experience with purchasing commodities, directing and leading negotiations, contract and supplier management.
• Experience in creation and implementation of procurement strategies for highly complex spend categories.
• Experience developing, implementing and managing performance metrics.
• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP10 (Great Plains) preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication, business partner collaboration, influence and human relations skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of procurement, material/service planning; distribution, and inventory control systems.
• End-to-end supply chain experience, e.g. supply chain planning, procurement, logistics, and fulfillment.
• Successful total cost reduction strategy development and implementation experience with cross-functional savings projects.
• Strong supply chain and business technology systems enablement knowledge.
• Advanced negotiation; supplier relationship management; and contract development and execution skills.
• Overseas sourcing experience desirable.
• Strong analytical and PC skills (i.e., Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
• Experience of sourcing within Indirect categories (essential).
• Ability to lead, manage, influence and motivate a others (internal and external client groups).
• Initiative, self-reliance, and pro-activity within a loosely structured framework.
