Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to robustly manage the Logistics Service Providers (LSP) on behalf of Kuehne + Nagel Lead Logistics Solutions (KN LLS) and KN LLS clients.
Objectives:
• Understand and employ closed loop principals in managing end-to-end logistics procurement activities on behalf of clients.
• Maintain standardized and repeatable procurement processes for all clients through the use of KN LLS’ Globally Aligned Procurement Process (GAPP).
• Work within the parameters of the developed, client-specific processes.
• Support KN LLS Business Management and NAFTA Procurement team as needed to:
– Prepare data files with historical shipment data for benchmarking and RF(x) projects.
– Work with customer to scope project requirements, provider selection criteria, and expected outcomes.
– Initiate, prepare, and release local, regional, and global RF(x) packages based upon Customer and business requirements.
– Negotiate, draft and manage supplier contracts including Logistics Supplier agreements, Sub-contractor agreements, and Service agreements governing a supplier’s provision of services.
– Draft SOWs and SOPs to solidify alignment between customer requirements and supplier deliverables.
– Implement new suppliers and new supplier solutions.
• Develop Service Provider scorecards and regular review cadence to ensure provider performance is aligned with contracted standards.
• Manage client rate, lead-time, and cut-off data in support of implementing and maintaining a Transportation Management System.
• Develop and maintain solid working relationships with key logistics service providers across all modes (FTL, LTL, Last Mile, Critical Spares Logistics, Air, Sea, Rail, Parcel, etc.).
• Support general tasks and development of the logistics procurement department (development of cost factors and industry indices, document requirements for procurement enablers).
• Support internal partners to address Service Provider escalations, deficiencies, or failures.
• Support engagement-specific requirements (e.g., financial baseline, savings validation, LSP service escalations, etc.) originating from other KN LLS departments.
• Provide input into and/or manage LSP-related improvement projects.
• Process customer management tasks such as, but not limited to:
– Service management.
– Cost measurement and control.
– Network design/re-design.
– Continuous improvement.
Problem Solving & Decision Making:
• This position must be able to solve problems related to the contracting and management of LSPs.
• Additionally, this position must be able to interact with various personnel within the client, including, but not limited to Procurement, Operations, Logistics and Management.
Job Requirements:
Education:
• College degree in a business or supply chain field.
Experience:
• At least 7-years experience in a logistics-related field.
• Experience in supplier sourcing, selection and management activities.
• Experience in the Medical Device industry would be beneficial, but not required.
Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong logistics and forwarding knowledge.
