Description:

The Procurement Specialist reports to the Director, Global Direct Procurement and works closely with other procurement/purchasing managers and supplier development managers.


Responsibilities include the following:

• Qualify new suppliers and work with suppliers to obtain and analyze data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage the on-going quality of the raw materials, completing root cause analysis and following-up on non-conformance issues.
• Complete supplier scorecards and work with the procurement managers and supplier development managers to identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure the suppliers have the capacity and lead times to meet forecasts and manage escalations accordingly.
• Support the Procurement Managers and interface with plant logistics, planners, schedulers, and engineers.
• Make recommendations based upon supplier risk analysis.
• Analyze current market trends in the area of raw materials to aid in negotiation strategies.
• Make recommendations and changes in order to improve and support business activities.
• Develop business insights based on analysis of results, and communicate key findings to various members of management to facilitate data-driven decision-making.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics or similar discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years raw materials procurement experience.
• We will also consider candidates without procurement experience, but who have a desire to work in this function and have experience dealing with raw materials in a manufacturing environment (e.g., process engineers, quality control professionals, etc.).
• Five or more years experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• A minimum of 2 years experience with data analysis.
• A minimum of 2 years experience with SPC and Statistical Capability Analysis.
• Experience with quality assurance systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to present solutions clearly and concisely and to communicate requirements and constraints related to data analysis and architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to interact with colleagues at various levels of management.
• Self-starter who can work effectively on an individual and team basis.
• Expert skills with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.


Desired Qualifications and Skills (these skills are a benefit, not required):

• Aster's degree.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or Logistics training and/or certifications.
• SAP Business Intelligence (BI) experience.
• Minitab experience.
