Description:
• Manages and directs all department functions and activities.
• This position is responsible for the supplies and equipment acquisition, contract management, and material logistics for Abrazo Health.
• This will include contracts, purchasing, warehousing, distribution, asset control, budgets, cost maintenance and cost reductions program.
• Management responsibilities include the supply departments, warehouse, print shop, and mail room operations, procurement, contract negotiations and management, and value analysis for the Regional system.
• This position supervises Regional Director of Purchasing and and Regional Director of Distribution Center.
Essential Functions:
• Design and conduct analysis of supplier capabilities.
• Analyze job tasks.
• Assist in the smooth transition of new product introductions into the System.
• Coordinate with all departments to ensure product and process integrity.
• Assist in reporting and evaluating supplier performance.
• Oversee inventory management by utilizing a standardized quality control and benchmarking for each department.
• Oversee the purchasing department.
• Maintain consistency and quality in supply ordering.
• Observant of cost savings to system.
• Seek ways to reduce cost without sacrificing quality.
• Manage an effective supply chain program.
• Effective manager of all expense contracts.
• Ensure strict compliance to BHS policies and procedures.
• Collect and review all business contracts.
• Assist in Request for proposal development.
• Serve as main contact for RFP issuance and collection.
• Assist in vendor proposals and Return On Investment (ROI) analysis.
• Collect and organize vendor specific data and report to appropriate upper management.
• Conduct departmental contractual policy compliance audit.
• Communicate potential and/or existing contractual issues to the appropriate upper management and assist in resolving the issue.
• Oversee the distribution of contract expiration and re-evaluation reminders to all contract owners and management.
• Oversee the collection and storage of all original contracts.
• Assist in budgetary discussions.
• Must maintain regular, consistent attendance.
• Adheres to acceptable standards of business ethics and integrity, and complies with all federal state, and local laws, rules and regulations in all aspects of business and at all times.
• Must discuss with all supervised personnel the compliance policies and legal requirements pertaining to departments of oversight.
• Must discuss with all supervised personnel that strict adherence to compliance policies and legal requirements are a condition of employment.
• Must disclose to all supervised personnel that disciplinary action up to and including termination may be taken should compliance policies and legal requirements be violated.

• Business systems:
– (PC, Email, ACCESS, Printers, Fax, other office machines) extensive knowledge of cost effective materials software programs and its interrelations with financial and clinical systems.
– Must be or become familiar with JCAHO requirements.
• Must be well versed in all aspects of materials management:
– Distribution operations, print shop, and supply chain logistics.
– Must be familiar with hospital organization, philosophy and goals.
– Excellent telephone skills, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, both orally and in writing.
– Leadership and management techniques.

– Proficient in the preparation of budgets.
– Development of cost estimates, timeliness and efficient work schedules for all projects.
Minimum Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements.
• MBA, MS in Supply Chain or Logistics preferred.
Minimum Experience:
• Ten years of supply chain management experience, including financial (bottom line) responsibility, personnel management, client service relationships, operations, business system technology, contractual negotiations, and strategic planning.
• Experience in organizing and optimizing a supply chain system for a large hospital with many health care units or a health care system is preferred.
