• As a Supply Chain Logistics Management Associate (LMA) Intern, you will be immediately challenged with leadership and project management opportunities.
• Maximizing the period of your internship, the design of our program allows you to contribute to the success of our company, hone your supply chain knowledge, understand the functions of General Mills logistics, and experience personal and professional growth.
• You will also receive an orientation to the total manufacturing operation at your location, and an overview of General Mills’ Supply Chain & Technology organization and the total company.
• Generating an immediate business impact, you will provide supply chain expertise and leadership to Marketing, Sales and Operations in the areas of planning, transportation, customer service and warehousing.
• This involves managing inventory levels, ingredient and material requirements, transportation operations, and personnel systems, as well as planning production schedules and analyzing distribution patterns.
• You could be responsible, on a daily basis, for millions of dollars of inventory or logistics operations expenses.
Your Internship Experience:
You will have key responsibilities similar to a full-time Supply Chain Logistics Management Associate (LMA). These experiences may include:
• Ingredient Planner (order ingredients, support production, ensure turns, support marketing plans).
• Outbound Planner (contact for customer orders, carrier and mode selection, optimize vehicle utilization).
• Production Scheduler (develop production schedules, optimize plant efficiency and customer service, liaison for plant operations and headquarters planning).
• Team Leader (manage a crew, understand operations)
You will also have responsibility for accomplishing a significant logistics-oriented project which is related to a key business strategy.
Some previous intern projects have included:
• Optimized warehouse utilization, resulting in potential annual savings and deferred costs of over $300,000.
• Lower overall inventories and increase inventory turns as a result of material use analysis.
• A group project with other LMA Interns across the country that allows the intern to demonstrate interpersonal effectiveness through peer to peer interaction across multiple manufacturing facilities while gaining real world project management experience in a group format.

• The ability to deliver outstanding results through decision making, interpersonal effectiveness, technical & process leadership, and the ability to develop and leverage a broad perspective will also be important.
