We are currently seeking a Sr. Procurement Specialist to be based out of our world headquarters in Chicago.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the procurement area of new product development, product improvement and product sustainability.
• Strategically source suppliers to reduce costs and purchase materials of high quality and technology.
• Working interactively with the business teams as they develop short and long term product strategies.
o Identifying and leveraging business opportunities by developing contractual relationships and staying abreast of market technologies and trends in support of the overall global supply chain strategy.
• Developing and maintaining supplier relationships and educating new vendors on meeting Hu-Friedy’s requirements in the area of cost, delivery and goals.
• Identifying suppliers for materials currently purchased by Hu-Friedy.

Successful candidates will have:
• A four-year degree in Procurement/Supply Chain, Engineering or related field
• MBA in Procurement/Supply Chain preferred
• 8-10 years’ experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a technical position in a high volume manufacturing environment
• Conduct exploratory and validation analysis to support fact-based decision-making concerning Procurement strategies.
• Proficient in strategic sourcing – utilizes a systematic approach to sourcing
• Project Management Skills – ability to follow project plans and meet key milestones on time
• Takes prompt action to accomplish objectives; takes action to achieve goals beyond what is required; is proactive.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to quantify/evaluate manufacturing processes and technologies to identify capabilities and ensure “best cost” solutions for purchased components and new product cost parameters
• Builds Trust - Interacts with others in a way that gives them confidence in one’s intentions and those of the organization.
• Demonstrated negotiation Skills – ability to develop and execute a negotiation strategy
• High standards of integrity required
• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite
• High energy level and strong self-motivation required
• Professional designations or Certifications by recognized Purchasing organizations preferred
• Understanding of metals, plastics and paper commodities a plus
• Global sourcing experience required.
• Understanding of Manufacturing processes and costing
• Ability to travel, both domestic and internationally, up to 50% of the time.
