Reporting to Director of Strategic Sourcing the
Sourcing Specialist will be involved in the
full life cycle of the buying process related to the site, and will represent the buying function on the management team. The Sourcing Specialist will ensure that the procurement of sourced goods and services is managed to achieve the lowest overall cost for the company.
The Sourcing Specialist is also responsible for identifying opportunities to improve procurement cost of all goods and services required by the Company. In many cases this will require that they identify new suppliers, obtain proposals, and implement successful proposals. In other cases it will involve facilitating continuous improvement activities with existing suppliers. The Sourcing Specialist will also provide support to Senior Management during negotiations and implement the resulting agreement.
The Successful Candidate will be responsible for:
- Execute buying activity in accordance with negotiated arrangements;
- Obtain competitive quotes or proposals as a means of identifying cost reduction opportunities and doing market validations of current arrangements;
- Document and keep current, supply agreements through the use of the standard supply contract;
- Develop continuous improvement relationships with critical suppliers
- Assist in developing purchasing best practices and ensure standard best practices are implemented within the company;
- Complete proposal evaluations considering the entire supply chain costs and optimize all of the associated costs.
- Work in a positive way with internal company departments to ensure that our Purchasing/Supply Chain activities are meeting their needs.
- Negotiating contracts and/or advising senior management during negotiations
The Successful Candidate will possess:
- A post-secondary degree
- 5 years of supply chain/logistics/purchasing experience
- Aptitude for analytics and a strong attention to detail
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills
- A long term desire to develop a career in the Purchasing/Supply Chain field
- Ideally membership in at least one related professional association
